If you haven’t read this novel, well you must at least be familiar with its famous main characters: Don Quixote (a mad errant) and Sancho Panza (his loyal henchman). The book is based on the inspiring story that anyone can do anything. As Cervantes himself stated, he wrote Don Quixote in order to “undermine the influence of those vain and empty books of chivalry” as well as to provide some merry, original and sometimes prudent material for his readers’ entertainment.
If anyone my age would want to read Don Quixote, I would warmly recommend it as it boosts one’s creativity and imagination. I have particularly enjoyed the scene where he stops a man from beating his “employee” (as one living in this era would say) after failing to herd all of the sheep. The man though doesn’t stop and waits until Don Quixote leaves.
The big question is, was Don Quixote actually less wise than his henchman? I will happily disagree with anyone who thinks so, as even though Sancho Panza was way saner than Don Quixote, they didn’t understand the world in the same way. Don Quixote being the wiser one in this category.
You might think that I am mad as well after reading the above paragraph, but just the fact that Don Quixote gave up his normal life to become a knight, means he understood the fact that the world had problems and he volunteered to help solve them.
Another inspirational quality Don Quixote had, was the fact that even though everyone laughed at him, he never gave up on his plans. Like when he was determined to steal the crest from the monk thinking it was some holy object.
Now, in our days, we no longer laugh at him but we take his example for loyalty, bravery and determination. He is a role model for anyone living in this era.
In conclusion, I really hope I inspired you to read this novel, or if you’ve already read it, I hope I inspired you to inspire others!
